Satellite Communication

Microwaves are more suitable for satellite communication (e.g. Global Positioning System, a.k.a. GPS) than radio waves because microwaves have higher frequencies than radio waves, which allows microwaves to pass through the ionosphere (part of the Earth’s atmosphere).

Brightness of lamp challenge

The diagram below shows two lamps, A and B, connected in parallel to the mains supply of a house.



A variable resistor is connected at P. State and explain what happens to the brightness of lamp B as the resistance of the variable resistor increases.

Acknowledgement: The diagram is obtained from GEO O-level Physics N11/2/10.

Answer: Brightness of lamp B remains unchanged as the potential difference of the lamp B remains unchanged.

* Part I Question 5,6,and Part II Question 9 are just some boring A-level physics questions. =) I shall spend my precious time other tougher questions. Having said that, I may still come back to Question 9 as Quantum Physics is my interest.
